In this case, USCIS assigned a number to a previously approved case in June.

True, the EB based categories are the ones mentioned whenever the benefits of having immigration is discussed, but when it comes to actions, we are the last category to get solutions

I was wondering if there is a way to efile for renewal of EAD & AP or do we really need a lawyer. It is turning out to be too expensive to file for a renewal through my comany lawyer. If it is possible, can someone who has already self filed advise of the procedure?
Thanks!

Can labor and I140 be filed from an employer, even if employee is not working for that employer currently, may be with the intention of joining that employer at later date? Please reply.

I have my Perm approved and my PD became current so i'm able to file I-485 but i have a couple of questions.
My fiancee was in US on J1 with 2 year HRR that is not up until Jan 15, 2008. She has been back to the US twice since she left (Jan 15, 2006) on B1/B2 visa. We plan to get married. When should we do it for her to be able to come to the US under my I-485 when her 2year HRR is up.
Please advise. I just sent an e-mail to my attorney but she's on vacation until Jun 19... I guess i'm too anxious to find out what my options are.
Congratulations to anyone who is able to file.

I have an approved I-140 and have a pending I-485 filed with NSC, received date 15 Aug 07. NSC I-485 processing date was moved up to Aug 15 a few days ago.
Was wondering if anyone else with similar received dates got an approval or some form of reply from NSC?

Dear Glenn: I've never communicated with you before, but something you said recently prompts me to write. I saw you on C-SPAN during your August 28 Restoring Honor event at the National Mall in Washington. Like many others, I was pleasantly surprised that you turned away from politics and focused instead on time-honored moral and religious values. You spoke about reading the biblical story of David and Goliath with your five-year-old son and exclaiming, "Wow, what a hero he is!" To your son, however, David was not a hero because he "can't fly" and doesn't "wear a cape." You then...

Tough talk from the Senate Majority Leader. Some, including my good friend Tamar Jacoby, think this is a really bad idea. I'm not so sure. I think fear of losing the Hispanic vote for a generation or more and the sudden urgency of the situation created by the Arizona fiasco could make responsible Republicans at least seek to block a filibuster and allow for a majority vote (as seems likely with financial regulatory reform). But Tamar is right that we'll get a better bill if pro-business Republicans play a role since some of the overreaching protectionist efforts of the unions...

As I understand , either there would be no bulletin revision(currently appearing impossible) or there would be a bulletin revision making some categories unavailable , in which case it doesnt matter even if your application has made it on July 2nd it will be returned. So why is the rush to get applications by mail/fedex/samedaydelivery/inpersondelivery/etc ?
Or is the rush to deliver only for those applicants with PDs in 2002-2004 who are hoping that their PD will make it in the new bulletin if it is not unavailable? I see no reason for the rush which seems to have increased after the rumor about the new bulletin on friday ...(although I personally asked my lawyer to send it on friday 6/29 and for which I have no confirmation if it was actually sent or not).

This may be an effort to provoke extreme right in tea party and republicans. It looks like talk show hosts and extreme right are careful and not taking the bait yet.
Creating a permanent wedge between Latinos and republican party just by confusing statements will not work this time.
Nothing short of CIR can bring out the true color of right.

Hi,
Need quick suggestion:
Company A filed for GC. Labor and I-140 was approved. I-485 was filed during July 2007.
I changed employer in June 2009; replied to RFE and filed AC21 in July 2009.
I came to know that my GC sponsring company is going to close the company soon. My current immigration attorney is suggesting that if that happens; and if INS came to know that GC sponsring company is closing down, they will revoke my I-140.
Is it true? I thought after AC21 is invoked; whatever happens to GC sponsring company, it will not impact my GC application in any way.
Please advice.

Today's news that Indiana Democratic Senator Evan Bayh will be retiring is probably bad news for much of the Democrat's legislative agenda. But when it comes to immigration, this is probably a good news day. Bayh's last vote on comprehensive immigration reform was a bad one. He voted with anti-immigration Senators to filibuster the 2007 version of comprehensive immigration reform and there is little reason to believe his vote in 2010 would be different. On the other hand, Senator Lugar, his Republican counterpart from Indiana, is a much more likely vote in favor reform. Bayh may feel freer to vote...
