IMO we should first try to form a local chapter. If that doesn't work try to combine forces with nearby states like IN, OH, IL etc. to form "Mid West" Chapter ( like New England and Tri-Sate Chapters).
Co-ordination with IL chapter will be critical for us (and others too) in the coming days as Mr. "anti-legal immigration" Durbin is the senator there. We need to start acting - NOW - to convince him to drop anti-immigrant measures such as "barring H1Bs from consulting business"; instead of waiting on him to introduce his "Prevention of H1 & L1 Fraud Act" (and discuss it on IV ad nauseam without making the slightest impact)

Ok - checked up the Congressional reciord the S. AMDT 1249 has status " lie on table" that means it has been killed. I guess that is bad news. But then again why does AILA say

I believe we are wasting our energy here. Quarterly spill over is already a law and we need to make DOS/USCIS to implement it. If we have some many people are ready to sue USCIS on country quota issue, why dont we use that energy on the low hanging fruit...

assuming 290000 seats passed of which 35 % is EB3 .. would make it 101500 seats.. if country restriction is 10% then it would mean just 10150.. is my understanding correct. . ?

So far things are looking good, but I have been instructed to not discuss any specifics until the lawyers have reviewed all the information. I should know more next week. I also received a call yesterday from a congressional office, but I was unavailable to take the call. We'll see what happens.

Either u r heavily drunk or u r arguing for the heck of it. Whoz paying for whose free lunch? What proof can u or any of the core IVs show bout July 2nd reversed bulletin? There r hundreds of thousands of ppl who believe that AILA's planned lawsuit was the cause for USCIS' reversal. Agreed! IV's flower campaign made news but action? I doubt it. IV core needs to be transparent and needs to enlighten us with what IV did so as to make USCIS reverse the bulletin if they claim to have done something. If ppl were convinced of IV's actions, there wud have been a flurry of donations so far.

Why can't we move from a free service to a membership based and see how many people still continue ... evenif with 25K members it is only a handful who are active and part of the initiative ... so I would suggest to go for a membership ...
it could be a per month basis or pay a big amount and get membership for life or year ... say $200 for a year or $20 for a month ... we don't need the number/mass unless they are active in all way ... just my thoughts ... hope the IV core team will consider that ... enough of free rides ... now pay for it and get the access to forums ... :mad:
On the ground of ethics and moral, I would not like to see that day but passive ones will be active to make that happen one day.

True if one want to die for Citizenship , But job market is not as great as here. One needs to be really lucky to be there and I also agree that its lot easier in life once you have a stable job. I have some friends who are well settled and enjoying a cool life. WHere as some are still looking for one and many moved back to US or Gulf once they got citizenship so it all depends... But Certain Citizenship of Canada is easiest compared to that of US and well respected too compared to US.

That is actually not true. Approval will not become quicker if speed is not improved.
The ONLY reason there were a LOT of approvals in May through Sept was that there was a sudden jump in PDs that allowed a LOT of people whose applications had been approved pending visa availability could finally be assigned a number. USCIS didn't all of a sudden dramatically increase their productivity, there were just a lot of people waiting for that number.
Of course, Numbers matters too - but more numbers without extra speed will get us nowhere. If that were to happen, there would just be more visas wasted each year that we'd be asking for recapture
But I do agree that "skilled and diversity" makes no sense.

What you appear to be saying is that speed (CIS efficiency) is more important than number (quotas), but your expample confirms that cases are stuck because of number unavailability (quotas), not because of CIS inefficiency. I am in the same boat too. But I am not sure if we have a whole 1 month to file 485 based on July bulletin.
The press release by USCIS says that, whoever falls under July Bulletin have the whole 1 month to apply. But if we dont get receipts before July 30th, we may not fall under July bulletin and so we would not be able to apply.
From what I understood, if we get the receipt before jUly 30th,we are good, or else we have to find an alternative to apply before July 30.
