Just thought let me update my case here.
I filed my 485 on July 2nd @ NSC and my checks got cleared yesterday (8/11/07). So as per murthy's coment I tried looking @ back of the checks to get my LIN #'s and I was able to trace it in the USCIS web site and it shows "Application received and the Receipt notice mailed".
So I feel like they are aggressively working on the applications which are filed on July 2nd and hopefully everyone will get their Receipt notice by end of this week.
Hope this will help many people and give a good hopes.

I did my part and called the Missouri Senator office. They said they will pass the message. I am not sure how effective it will be. But I will continue my efforts regardless. We come from a country where Gandhi got us independence through non-violence. I believe it is in our blood.

Don't just blurt something out of frustration without thinking twice before hitting the "Submit" button. We are all frustrated here when it comes to GC processing. In that sense we are all in the SAME BOAT. Be specific about the point you are trying to make instead of blanketing all H1B and GC aspirants so that its not confusing or misleading to others.
Well,If you think that it was a cheap attempt, then i belive you need tutoring in english first, i would have appreciated if you would have read the full documents first, if you are not in the same boat as others doesnot means that others are not, there are still many H1 holders whose spouse doesnot have a SSN and only ITIN, and i am not over or below quoting the statement made by IRS.
Please think twice before issuing any statements.
P.S- Thanks for Pointing that Title of a Thread is for writing autobiographies, I will keep that in mind,when you are around. :-)

I never came here to study. Have you heard of IIT/REC's in India. I understand there are other colleges/universities in india which your are describing here or u might have studied there but same is true for US as all universities are not A grade. There is a way to tell the fact, not to exaggerate and that too by an indian. if an american say this i can understand that he is ignorant about the facts.
Anyways all the best for Green Green Card. I can understand the desperation
i agree with you Karan and totally disagree with Gayatri. I routinely interview undergrad and MBA grad students on campus from top 10-15 universities/ b-schools in US for my company's management analyst and associate programs.
I do not find any material difference one way or the other in the quality of output between here and India (i cant speak to MS or other grad programs). Just because we are here does not mean we have to go out of the way to either short-sell our respective motherlands or indulge in trash talk about our home country to make us look more "american". And FYI - quotas are no different from affirmative action.
In fact, i read either in NY Times or Wall Sreet Journal a couple of days back that Japan is now "in awe" of indian basic school education and latest fad in Tokyo is Indian schools or schools that use Indian teaching methodology and employ indian teachers.

We have a one month window to push for HR 5882, let us focus on that. if it doesnt work then we have no hope. at this rate EB3 will not even move 6 months per year. In retrospect every minor gain for the EB community has had major implications to EB 3 and the backlog as a whole (just venting a bit, dont want to drag it into a big discussion). I remember last year there were many who were saying 'now that we have EAD and AP we are good', this year many will realize the additional pain of renewals and waiting.
Oh's site mentions the following (per country limit is both family and EB based)
"The numerical limits for FY-2008 are as follows: (a) Worldwide Family-sponsored preference limit: 226,000, (b) Worldwide Employment-based preference limit: 162,704. Under the INA Section 202(A), the per-country limit is fixed at 7% of the family and employment annual limits. For FY-2008 the per-country limit is 27,209. Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....:confused:
I have refinanced with Wells Fargo without any issues. If you need more details, please PM me.

Pardon my ingnorance, but if I wanted to start a small time business where I do website development and designing either myself or by a company outside US, do I need to file as an LLC or can I register as a small business. Can someone tell me where I might get details for registering a company (Or is that same as LLC).
I was thinking I will not get EAD earlier than 6 months and I got it in less than 6 weeks....so now am doing some basic ground work and would appreciate any guidance !!

My H1 extension is under process. I had applied in Dec 2006. My DL expires on May 6. Is it possible to renew my license with the H1 extension receipt?. Is it possible to do Premium Processing now?
Not sure about NJ, but in NY they want to see your i94 that is attached to your approval notice if you dont have a valid stamp.
You do have time for premium processing but also find out locally if you can go back with an expired DL (expired within a month or so) , in most DMV I think they permit extension of expired DL. I am not sure about it, but You may want to verify.

There is no doubt about NRIs are the prime reason for the real estate boom in India. It is tottally unbelivable that 2 bedroom flat in a normal second class town has gone to up to 40 lakes. Decent independent houses are in terms of crores in small cites. Two factors. One is foreign money and second in black money from local dadas/politicians. Also demand vs supply. The availble land is small and demand for that land is too high due to these two gropus.
I visited one of my NRI friends house in India, where he is not going to live as he is a US citizen. His parents already won two houses and they bought another house as a investment. This house in a recent development area in a small town where there is no high tech employment is avialable; In my feeling it may not worth 5 lakes; they were selling at 45 lakes. Even if anyone ready to pay 45 lakes there is no unit is avialable; everything was sold to NRIs. No resident won the houses in that area. All the dads and mos are baby sitting the houses. Renting alos not that easy. It is tottally unbelivable. I wonder why all the NRIs buying house in India and increisng the house price? The guys working here (or any part of the world) and not going to live in India, why government should allow to buy the house and increse the price? Everyone tries to do real estate bussiness there. That is the main reason for price increase.
Is is sad. All these NRIs are going to learn a very valuable lesson. Speculation is not a good strategy for investing. A lot learned that in the past few months here in USA. In a year we will be seeing the full blown post bubble correction in India. If one can rent an apartment for 15,000 why would one buy it for 50 lakhs. The interest alone on 50 lakhs is 50,000 every month. It is like buy and rent it and loose money. Instead why don't they deposit in a bank and get 50,000 every month:confused:
