1) Can one person have multiple H1 with different companies at the same time ?
2) Will he able to come to US using any of his H1 ? If not, which one he can use ?
I am having H1B valid till apr 09. I am in currently in US working with company 'A'. Now, they are asking me to go back as my assignment is over. I had signed a contract with company 'A' so I have to return and stay for 6 months there.
1) If I transfer my H1 to from company 'A' to 'B' before going back, will I be able to come to US for company 'A' not for 'B'(if I changed my mind) ?
2) If I don't transfer my current H1 to any other employer and and return to my country. Will my H1 visa be still valid till Apr 09 ?

Any thoughts on organizing rallys state capitals ?
Good Idea...I had the same thought.....
We should do this rally in all the 52(?) states on one day to make it more historic!....This way the Local State chapters will get motivated and media will always be there on the state capital.....
Ideal would be a Friday afternoon....So people who don't want to take a day off, can just take few hours off and drive to the rally location...
People/Media will forget these rallies very soon, Once some OJ news comes up....we should keep on knocking the door!!! crying baby gets milk :) ....lets keep trying till our goals met!

I have been to the indian consulate couple of times and what I have seen so far is that people staying in the US take the consulate officers for granted.
People take the token and start filling up the form in the consulate itself, they will be at the window and will be pasting photograph or filling up the form itself on the counter.
I think the consulate officer should ask people that will you behave the same way at an US consulate??
People become impatient just waiting for 10 minutes as if they entire indian consulate has been waiting for them to show up at the office.

I phoned my attorney asking how I can verify if this update was / was not a glitch and according to him my PD should be current for September. :eek::eek: WTF
(perhaps he has an inside person somewhere in State Department).
I also called the service center and IO confirmed it is either approval or green card itself. Since I was updating mailing address as well, we will see how long it takes for approval to reach me.
My attorney said I can do nothing (at the moment) but wait for approval as it should list Priority Date and category as well and only then can we formulate appropriate approach for rescinding / reinstatiting AOS. I have put H1B on hold as well till we get a clear answer.

On a side note, wife had a dream where my GC arrived nice and shiny and it was approved in an EB2 category :D:D
Weird, since I dont think I have EB2 case pending anywhere... Unless my previous employer filed I-140 under EB2...

I for one think that the SKIL provisions will be in the manager's package like last year.

Actually I made mistake in my math,
$20 (2% of $1000 monthly bill) * 2k ( 10% of 20k IV members) = 40K per month
I guess 10% people with $1000 monthly credit card bill is not too optimistic.. is it?
One simple way to measure this is, lets have poll. ( how do you create poll?) I have never done it before.

A group of us just went to Lamar Smith's Austin District Office and detailed his liason about the bills, benefits and information about IV. She said she will have them Fedex'd today to their Washington office and keep us informed about congressman's stand.

The problem of contacting media with "stories" is that you don't want people who are just hanging by a thread; just trying to stay in status and having all sorts of hardship because they want to stay. It feeds into the fact that there are a lot of people here which the country doesn't need. Discussing layoffs or threats of layoffs or employer abusing, etc., feeds into the perception from an outside person that there are too many people here not doing specialized work that an American is not able to do.
In fact this is a very valid point ..... We should be careful about what kind of stories we diseminate into media .... If we are just giving stories in which people apperear to be grovelling to stay on at whatever cost is not good for us as I think...

Very well said IV and I can tell you that you may very well be right when you say that 90% of people trust you guys. I am proud to be supporting an organization like IV and will continue to do so till we get success. It is not easy now and it was not meant to be easy but hey we will get there. We will get there together.

d) or recapture the visa

I've been on the website for sometime, started out with a positive attitude, contributed etc, but got totally * turned off* by childish posts like the one from Logiclife. Emotional responses to situations is hardly the way to lead, especially a volunteer organization like IV. Do you think big exhortations and 'quotations' from all over the web motivate people??
Needhelp, you are doing a great job. It is insincere of people to not show up after they've committed, but what's new? We've all had that happen when we try to arrange large parties where the 'not so close' crowd is expected.
My 2 cents, instead of using impersonal bulletin boards and emails, lets try this:
- you * call * 2 of your friends and ask them to commit
- ur friends each calls 2 more friends and asks them to commit
I'm willing to bet, we'll get a better turnover this way.

Fragomen employees are told they represent the company. The company is their client. They are a corporate law firm. There are instances when the law firm represents you, the foreign national. Usually this is when you are applying via a marriage based case, or are in the final green card process and it has reached portability. There is information that law firms cannot release to you as some information requested belongs to the client, and they must receive authorization from the client. Yes, I used to work for Fragomen, before anyone wants to assume anything. I was a paralegal and worked hard for every case that was given into my hands. I specialized in the green card process and made sure I responded to every foreign national as quickly as I can. Please understand that paralegals and legal assistants are subject to the attorneys they work for. Therefore, some questions you may ask require an attorney to respond, and the paralegal or legal assistant's delay may be in trying to get the answer you require. I know not all Fragomen offices work the same. Not all will respond to you in the same manner. Some may be worse than others. So if you are going to defame Fragomen, would you please try to specify which office you are referring to?

When a prevailing wage comes back higher than what you are making, the law firm then has to go back to the employer to find a resolution, which can mean either an increase in the salary once you have received the green card, or confirmation that is what you will be making at that time, or a reduction in the requirements, which can sometimes take a case from EB2 to the EB3 visa category.

It is very important to send a copy to IV, it will be used in making a case during talks with White House and DHS. Please see address in first post of this thread.
I have a dream: IV team carrying at least 10 big boxes full of letters to show during the meeting.
And users should able to give numbers in that.. not just radio options..
And i remember most of the people are sending letters only to President not a copy to IV.

Between my side i sent letter to president and requested 10 of my friends to do so..
