My father in law mistakenly entered the wrong date for his date of arrival in the U.S. (entered data in Indian style) on his citizenship application form. The number of days out of the country was also wrong.
Is there a way to rectify this mistake and inform USCIS about this ? Is there a form, or can we simply write a letter regarding the errors to the USCIS office ?
What would be the best way to address this issue ?
Thanks

Hi,
I just found this forum and it is really nice place to get some practical information from people gone through all this. I will be applying for Adjustment of Status as I am getting married to a US citizen and I am not. The only thing that I cannot figure out for now is:
Do I have to fill out I-130 and submit it along with the I-485? I am currently on H2B visa in the usa, never been out of status just extended my stay a couple of times. I have my I-94. Also my H2B will expire end of September. Do I have enough time by then to fill out my papers so I do not get out of status. I am getting married by the end of August.
Thank You!

Hi All,
My I-94 expires in Oct, 2010 and my employer hasn't filed my GC. My 6 year stay expires on Feb, 2011 (don't know why I have oct, 2010 on my I-94)
My one extension has been filed. My question is:
Can I file another extension beyond oct, 2010 saying my 6 years on H1-B are not over (NO PERM or GC yet).
Thanks.

I am going to complete 6 years on H1-B by 2009 March. When we applied for the H1-B Transfter to my current company last year for some reason I got the extension upto Jan 2010 which is more 6 yrs.
I was on L1 until 2004 Jan for 9 months in the begining and my previous company converted L1 to H1 in Jan 2004.
My question is do I need apply H1-B extension on approved I-140 to get 3 more years extension as 2010 Jan will be my 7th year on H1-B ? OR I can wait upto current transfered H1 - B approval validity?
Please advise.

Goto ASC and talk with them and explain the situation. Sometimes they will take the fingerprints, without the fingerprint receipt. Try your luck there.

SoCal family charged with arranging fake marriages - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_fake_marriages_immigration_fraud)
Nothing unusual...infact just a tiny tip of an iceberg. Family based immigration including marriage constitute close to 85-90% of US new immigrants. Other avenues being tightened in recent years, we are sure to see more and more. In fact in recent years I have seen many H1Bs/F1 marrying USC.
For every case being busted, there are many many undetected cases. It is called legal arbitrage, with other areas being tightened amd under attack and marriage based being relatively untouched, it is a matter of time that one will increase.

Hi,
I was on H4 and had applied for H1B in 2008. After long processing and being pending for a long time it finally got approved in July 2009.
My question is, does my H1B start from oct 2008 or oct 2009? Can someone reply me on this.
Thanks

None of my friends from UCLA Law School, class of 1973, went into immigration law. Corporate law, personal injury law and real estate law were all far more lucrative. If you are looking for a multi-million dollar settlement, immigration law is not for you. So why do we immigration lawyers do what we do? Having spent over half of my life practicing immigration law, I can tell you that I consider myself to be very fortunate. The satisfaction that I get from meeting and helping immigrants from around the world makes it worthwhile. Let me explain myself by telling you...

I know that. That's why we need to cancel it. We have to travel in November and we are concerned that AP may not arrive by then. Has anyone ever cancelled I-539 before it is approved?

A pretty serious accusation. Phoenix Law Enforcement Association president Mark Spencer accuses the Arizona city of inflating its kidnapping numbers to bolster its claims to stimulus money. Anti-immigrant activists have been citing the bogus numbers to bolster their claim that Phoenix is the "kidnapping capital of the world" largely as a result of illegal immigration.

USCIS has released an instructional video for citizenship applicants here (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=76574bbe6cb97210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCR D&vgnextchannel=d6369ddf801b3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60a RCRD). The 16-minute video provides an overview of the naturalization process including the eligibility requirements, the application process, preliminary steps, the naturalization interview, the English tests and the U.S. history and government test (civics). The video includes two simulated interviews between applicants and USCIS Officers.
